FAQ About Physical Therapy

Physical therapists examine and evaluate physical impairments. They can use advanced diagnostic techniques such as MRI scans, X-rays and electromyography to detect diseases or other causes precisely. A treatment plan will be created to help improve or restore your physical function and fitness level.

Physical therapy treatment is based on the initial evaluation findings along with ongoing reassessment and evaluation. Treatments provided may include myofascial release, heat or ice compression, electrotherapy, ultrasound, transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), exercise programs and injury prevention, traction therapy and massage or exercises. However, the number of treatments you will receive will vary, depending on your specific condition.

Although physical therapy requires treating areas of pain or discomfort, trained therapists will manage patients to their individual tolerances while balancing the required needs of the injury.
