Biodex Balance Program

Metro Healthcare Partners is excited to be able to offer a six-week program featuring Biodex balance technology.

Falls are a serious threat to the health of the elderly and can lead to serious consequences including fracture, disability, impaired function and mortality. Preventing falls is very important to reduce geriatric fractures. Metro Healthcare Partners offers a balance program to prevent falls in elderly people, and thereby help them live a more productive life. This six-week training uses the newest technology from Biodex. The Biodex Balance System SD is specifically designed to improve strength, ability, and balance.

When fall risk is detected, therapists aided by software programs in the Balance System can, over a period of weeks, help patients develop the muscle strength and neurological response necessary for them to walk more safely when discharged.

Who Can Benefit from Our Services?

This is highly beneficial for post-surgical patients and patients aged 65 years and above, who are concerned about falls and wish to achieve improved mobility and balance.

Balance Retraining ProgramBalance Retraining Program in Brooklyn NY

Our six-week program, managed by geriatric care specialists, pain management physicians and physical therapists, is tailored to improve balance, strength and overall mobility.

Realizing the fact that most falls occur at home, they help patients identify the environmental factors that cause falls. Risk factors for falls at home may include poor lighting, wet floors, unstable seating, small objects in pathways, and unsteady handrails. Testing and training exercises, such as weight shift and limits of stability, can safely and effectively mitigate fall risk in older adults.

Our slip / fall prevention program steps include:

  • Assessing patients’ physical and functional capabilities to determine whether they are at risk of falling
  • Identifying the various factors that put the patients at risk
  • Modifying the risk factors
  • Improving patient’s mobility
  • Helping to maintain independence

Post Surgical Rehab with Biodex

Our six-week program featuring Biodex balance technology is tailored to improve balance, strength and overall mobility. Our trained professionals begin with the machine doing all of the work, called passive range of motion. Overtime, the machine slowly increases resistance to strengthen the patient through recovery. This system is vital in returning a worker from disabled to part-time and eventually full duty capacities as the combination of the two machines can create a very accurate and controlled return to activities of daily living. Testing and training exercises, such as weight shift and limits of stability, can safely and effectively rehabilitate patients.
